Concert :  ‘Science and Music working for peace’

July 3, 19h30, Congress Palace, Valencia.

We have organized a concert on July 3 by teachers and students from the Conservatory of Music of Valencia, followed by a welcome cocktail reception. The organization of this event is held jointly by Ricardo Callejo, Director, and Mónica Cantó, Head of Studies, and is part of the academic training activities of the Conservatory this year. They are very enthusiastic with the idea and have been extremely cooperative.

The programme consists of a journey through different music from around the world including Spanish music. The main theme of the performance will revolve around science, music and their contributions to the social aspects of international cooperation and peace.

This year marks the 60th anniversary of CERN and one of its slogans is ‘Science for peace’.

Cocktail (July 3, 20h30-21h30) at Congress palace after the concert.

Conference banquet (July 7 21h00-23h30) at Huerto Santa María.

Transport will be provided by the organization both ways.

Buses will depart from Conference Palace at 20h45.


Accompanying persons can join the Reception cocktail and banquet at a cost of 150€ for early registration (175€ for late registration); please purchase additional tickets during the registration process. The fee also includes transportation.

Excursions

Several options are proposed. A different excursion will be offered every day of the conference except the 7th of July. On Sunday 6th July all excursion possibilites will also be available.

Excursions will happen if there is a minimum number of registered people. Payment will be required once the excursion be guaranteed. See the list below for further details about the excursions.

City Tour. Old Town of Valencia (3rd July and 6th July)

Panoramic view by bus through the most important monuments and emblematic places of the city and Guided walking visit in the Old Town.

Requena-Utiel and Hoya de Cadenas Winery (4th July and 6th July)

Guided tour through the winery region of Requena-Utiel and visit the winery Hoya de Cadenas including wine tasting.

Albufera Natural Park – Paella show cooking (5th July and 6th July)

Located 17 Km from the city centre of Valencia, La Albufera is one of most outstanding landscape environments, breeding a large number of plant and animal varieties. This environment was declared a Natural Park in 1986. Participants will have the opportunity to make their own paella.

City of Arts and Sciences and Oceanographic Marine Park (6th July and 8th July)

Panoramic walking tour of the City of Arts and Sciences, located in the old riverbed. Its surface is about 350.000 m2. Two architects have designed this great project: Santiago Calatrava designed the Palau de les Arts, L´Hemisfèric, the Science Museum “Príncipe Felipe” and L´Umbracle. Félix Candela made the singular roofs of the main buildings of L´Oceanogràfic.
